The Central Govt to carry on with the BS IV and V emissions

Earlier, the government was preparing to advance straight away to BS VI emission norm. Though, the auto industry objected this as it intended to incur extra expenses and a lot of other technical issues as well. As per the original time frame of the Auto Fuel Policy, BS IV is to be implemented throughout the country by the year 2017, BS V by 2020 and BS VI by the year 2024. Promoting to BS V, that is equal Euro V, would carry an investment of more than INR 50,000 cr.

There is a final decision been rolled out the Central Govt. of the country regarding the norms for higher emissions. The ministry of Road Transport and Highways has reported that they would not skip to BS VI from the existing BS IV norms for emission.

As per Mr. Vijay Chhiber, Secretary of the Ministry of Road Transport & highways, BS-V would be executed by the coming year 2019 and the BS-VI should be in action by 2023.

Apart from the auto makers, SIAM, the apex automotive commodity of India has been forcing and pressurizing to abide by the set emission norms.

Well, now this struggle between the govt. and the auto makers can only decide the face of the roads in the near future, on a side wherein the govt. is taking steps to eradicate the pollution problem and helping to make the environment a better and safer, cleaner and a greener place to live in, while the auto makers would have to be to be equipped on a larger scaled in order to implement the same for sure.
