BMW India will launch its 1-Series on 3rd September

BMW 1-Series will be inside the shores of India by 3rd September.

BMW India is all set for the launch of its 1-Series in India on 3rd of September 2013.  In India, both petrol and diesel variants are available with BMW’s entry-level car. Campaign named “DYNAMIC1” is already started by the German carmaker company for 1-Series that mainly focuses on the driving pleasure of the vehicle.

BMW 1-Series comes with rear-wheel drive whereas one of the main contenders of the segment is Mercedes Benz A-Class that has got front-wheel drive for the vehicle. A variety of engines are offered with 1-Series like 116i, 116d, 114i, 114d, 118i, 118d, 120d, 125i and 125d. In this series of engines “i” stand for Petrol and “d” stands for Diesel.  M models are also offered in 1-Series that comes with all-wheel drive option. Although in India, BMW will be offering only 118i and 118d variants for 1-Series.

118d accommodates a 2.0litre diesel engine that already exists under the hoods of X1 and 3-Series, but comes with a different tuning and provides 120PS and 320Nm of power and torque respectively. The race from zero to century is completed by 118d within 8.9 seconds. The vehicles have a top speed of 212kmph.

118i has a gasoline burner of 1.6litre which is able to produce 170PS of power and 250Nm of peak torque. Naught to 100kmph was achieved in just 7.4 seconds by 1-Series. The gasoline powered vehicle have a top speed of 225kmph.

All the engines offered in 1-Series belts with 8-speed transmission system. BMW 116d, 120d, are expected to see the shores of India by early next year.  The vehicle is expected to come with a starting price of 20 lakh rupee (ex-showroom, Delhi) for its base variant. The vehicle will be assembled at the BMW facility at Chennai using CKD kits.
