Terra Motors launches electric superbike Kiwami at Rs 18 lakh

Kiwami powered by 1000-cc engine which can cover a distance of 200 km with a single charge and accelerate to the top speed of 140 kilometers per hour.

Japanese Electric Two Wheeler makers Terra Motors Corporation yesterday launched its electric superbike “Kiwami” in India with the price tag of Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It will be available for sale in India by the next few months. Kiwami powered by 1000-cc engine which can cover a distance of 200km with a single charge and accelerate to the top speed of 140kmph. Terra Motors also planning to bring premium electric scooter & three wheelers, a range of easily affordable electric bikes into the Indian market.

Terra Motors chief executive Toru Tokushige said "Besides, Kiwami, we plan to bring in a premium electric scooter and an electric three wheeler this year. Initially the Tokyo headquartered firm will import bikes into the country and we are focusing to hold 25% market share in the Indian electric bike segment and also planning to invest Rs 30crore during this year.

Terra Motors sold 20,000 electric vehicles in Japan last year, and it is estimated about Indian bike market would be around 60,000 units per annumm and one more process is in line for finalising dealer partners in India.

Additionally Tokushige said. "With vast knowledge of electric vehicles, we would partner ourselves with the dealers who are well experienced in service quality,”. He added company wants to create its benchmark in India by achieving the landmark of the number one seller of electric vehicles across the country. As India is the second largest producer of two wheelers in the world so Indian market will play an important role for our company’s growth.
