Mercedes S63 AMG coupe revealed ahead of New York Auto Show

Mercedes Benz the German Car maker has announced the S63 AMG coupe ahead of public debut at the New York Auto show scheduled for next month. Mercedes announced it even before the S class Coupe could go on sale.

The S63 AMG coupe is based on the S Class coupe which was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show last month. The S Class coupe equipped with a 4.7-liter V8 engine churns out 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque, while the S63 Coupe powered by the AMG tuned twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 engine produces 585 hp and 900 Nm of torque.

An AMG Speed Shift 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox transmits power to the front wheel as well as all four wheels in case of the AWD model. The RWD model accelerates does 0-100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, whereas the AWD takes only 3.9 seconds for the same sprint. The Top-speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

The S63 coupe will replace the existing CL63 AMG, which is based on the previous edition of the S class, the new S63 is  not only more powerful than the CL63 even it is also 65 kg lighter than its predecessor, Mercedes reveals.
