Volkswagen is working on developing the new 1.5 litre diesel engine for the Indian car market which will powered the Polo and Vento. The updated new version of both cars expected to launch somewhere in May or June this year with the all new engine.

Polo is introducing the new 1.5 litre diesel engine in order to avail the excise benefits and to reduce the cost of the both cars. This new 1.5-litre engine has been derived from the 1.6-litre oil burner and it would get a four-cylinder mill too. Volkswagen is putting efforts in making the engine more and more spanking. Polo would have the 89bhp whereas the Vento shall stands at 103bhp and 250 Nm of torque. The idea behind such step is not to detune the engine but to produce the same output with the similar engine.

Volkswagen has developing new 1.5 litre engine indigenously and added another surprise along with this package, as this engine will be getting the five speed manual transmission and also a dual speed clutch transmission. This will make the Polo as the first diesel hatchback to have a seven-speed automatic transmission. Hence polo will be the first diesel hatchback to get the seven-speed automatic transmission. Apart from that the Upgraded Polo and Vento would get some more interior features such as reverse parking camera in-built color infotainment system with satellite navigation and others.
