The new standard has been implemented by the ministry of road transport and highways Now India is the fifth nation that strictly impose such norms with intolerant penalties for violation. United states, Japan, China and Germany are such countries who follow those norms.

Currently, Passenger vehicles including cars, utility vehicles and vans have fuel efficiency limit of about 16kmpl.once the norms will be effective, the new vehicles will have an average fuel efficiency of 18.2kmpl by 2016-17 and 22kmpl by 2021-22. After execution, the new fuel efficiency standards will help saving so much fuel and money spent on importing fuel. Fuel consumption would be calculated on the basis of weight.

Now the Indian customers will be happier once these norms would be implemented, this norms can increase their business profit also. Might be initially there would be some snag for the automobile manufacturers to adhere such norms but still they have to perform at any cost to defend themselves to impose such penalties for the violation.
