Mercedes Benz GLA Concept Will Be Produced Locally

Chakan plant will host the first domestic model of Mercedes Benz GLA concept after Tuscaloosa, USA on 26th August 2013.

Mercedes Benz’s Facebook official page teases the official sketch of the upcoming luxury compact SUV. The GLA concept was showcased at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year.
Mercedes Benz will roll out the first model on August 26th 2013 from its Chakan domestic plant in Pune after Tuscaloosa, USA. In India the vehicle will be costing nearly 77 lakh INR, which is quite affordable due to its domestic production.

The front facia is provided with the same treatment as Mercedes used to do for its modern vehicle. The front of the vehicle has two horizontal bars on the front grill that accommodates the three-headed star on its centre.

The vehicle is based in Mercedes Benz front wheel drive MFA architecture. The vehicle is expected to come to India soon after the A-Class, B-Class and the CLA saloons. GLA will be 4383mm long, 1579mm high and 1978mm wide. GLA shares the wheelbase with its siblings- the A-Class and the B-Class, which is 2699mm. Audi Q3 and BMW X1, the chief competitors for GLA shares the same dimensions.

Gently sloping rooflines that flows to the tailgate makes look more sleek and sporty. GLA comes with a 2987cc V6 engine that belts out 261PS of peak power. The vehicle sprints from naught to century in just 8.9 seconds.

The vehicle is expected to come with 4MATIC system, dual clutch and seven-speed automatic transmission. The four wheel drive will be available with the upper range of the vehicle.
