No More Cars...
How does it work? As you drive, "eco:Drive" collects information on car efficiency and your driving habits. All data are sent through Blue&Me infotainment system's USB port to a standard USB drive, from where they can be read on a computer. Customers can then take a careful look at fuel consumption and emissions for each trip (creating their own eco:Index) and get tips on achieving more eco-friendly driving style. They can actually enhance their score by progressing through a series of tutorials: people who are keen to become more eco-responsible drivers can expect 15 percent improvement in driving style, which means cutting carbon emissions by 15 percent and annual fuel saving of 120 to 200 euros.
This system is available for Fiat 500, Grande Punto, Bravo, Qubo and Croma models. More than 22,000 users use it all the time to monitor driving style, taking part in a lively exchange of views on "eco:Ville", an online community where you can share commitment to eco-friendly driving. Great public success but also a concrete commitment, "eco:Drive" tips have made it possible to save more than 1,900 tonnes of CO2 in Europe - enough energy to light up streets of a city like Geneva for 20 months.
