It has been reported by the media in India, about the Volvo Auto India, outlining to enlist more model and their variants into their kitty. The have a business strategy to roll out 2000 units starting 2015. Although last year the number was 1200. The new launch includes the basic hatchback Volvo V40 and the second generation XC90 SUV.The Volvo V40 would be powered by the 2.0L D3 diesel engine that would be able to pull out 150 bhp and 350NM of torque.

The Volvo plans to roll pout the premium hatchback in the country to mark its name in the luxury hatchback segments, that already has the Mercedes A class and the BMW 1 series. The model reportedly is to be priced around INR 26 lakhs.

The new baby in line for 2015 is to be termed as the Volvo XC90 SUV. It sports a new layout, the Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA) and the new fuel productive range of four-cylinder engines. On the Indian roads, it is reported there are two trims planned:

Momentum and Inscription (both feature customized).Both could have an engine of 2.0L, four cylinder, twin turbo diesel unit that would pull out 225bhp and 470 Nm of Force.The new XC90 would directly compete with BMW X5, Audi Q7, Mercedes GL class and so on. The pre-orders would start in May 2015.

New variants to be released this year include the petrol-powered Volvo V40 Cross Country and a better powered T6 petrol variant of the S60 mid- sedan. Since petrol cars are popular, the Brand is looking to announce the former in the market. It would be powered by a 2.0-litre T4 motor, capable of 180 hp and 300 Nm of Force. It is expected to come with INR 30 lakh price range.The model is supposedly teamed up by an 8-speed automatic gear box, making it able to 0-100km/h in 5.9 sec to be precise.

In order to support the new launch, the Brand plans to expand over to 21 outlets, from the current 16.The entire range of the product is currently brought in to the country via CBU route. No local assembly plans are signaled right now.
