Volvo India, launched the new XC90 2015, earlier this week with a plan to import 350 machines of the same within the current year. As per reports the Indian market has placed around 450-500 units order already which would be done within this year itself.

The car manufacturer from Sweden, would not be able to import units beyond the capacity of the mother plant in Gothenburg. It would be able to craft around 55,000 units of the XC90 in the current year, however the orders have been received for over 30,000 cars. In order to meet in the demand, the brand had to initiate a third production unit this month itself in order to meet the orders taken.
 
Volvo has already planned for the next year, they would only be importing around 1000 units of the XC90, and 90,000 cars would be manufactured across the globe, reportedly said by Tomas Ernberg, The MD of Volvo Auto India. The new XC90 is out and about in India in two versions –namely, Momentum and Inscription estimated at Rs. 64.9 lakhs and Rs. 77.9 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Mumbai Octroi would be charged additional. The Indian version of the XC90 would be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel unit making out 225 bhp and 470 Nm of force paired to an 8-speed automatic gear box.
