Nissan Micra leads 2014-15 car exports

The entry level model from Nissan, Micra has been the largest export in the year 2014-15, with a count of 76,120 units carried overseas.

The entry level model from Nissan, Micra has been the largest export in the year 2014-15, with a count of 76,120 units carried overseas. It has been stalked by Hyundai Grand i10 with 63,585 units and the Volkswagen Vento with 56,064 units exported during the tenure same time.

Although, the Grand i10 has also been a hit in the local market with 99,088 units, and even Vento up to the mark, the Micra has not scored that well, but made a shadow for its manufacturers in the foreign markets. Rest of the models that made it BIG in export list, are namely the Nissan Sunny with 38,759 units and Hyundai i20 having exported 38,144 units abroad.

Talking about manufacturers, Hyundai won the race with three cars in the Top 10, while Maruti Suzuki and Ford surfaced at the second spot with two cars each. Maruti managed to export 31,594 units and 28,697 units of the Alto and last-year restrained A-Star. On the other hand, Ford’s export for both the models- EcoSport and Figo detoriated. Last year, the exports of the EcoSport had risen more than 200 percent, from around 17,000 odd units to a boosting 55,178 units.

Taking the field unit in consideration, the amazing numbers of models exported were petrol with the Micra winning chased by the Grand i10 and EcoSport. Overall, India exported 6, 22,470 models in 2014-15, reporting an increase of 4.42 percent over 2013-14. Hyundai still holds on to the country’s top exporter position with 1,91,221 vehicles carried out, followed by Maruti Suzuki at 1,21,701 units, just a little ahead of Nissan, which exported 1,20,331 units.
