New Toyota Hybrid Models to Reach India Soon

A rapid increase of Toyota models in India under hybrid segment expected soon.Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is planning to introduce 18 latest hybrid models by 2015 under an initiative to encourage environmentally friendly and fuel efficient vehicles throughout the world.

Toyota seems quite inspired by the increasing sales of its only hybrid vehicle in India – Prius. That is the reason why the Japanese car maker is thinking of introducing new hybrid models in India. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is planning to introduce 18 latest hybrid models by 2015 under an initiative to encourage environmentally friendly and fuel efficient vehicles throughout the world.

Toyota in India sells its model in co-ordination with Kirolskar motors. And the word is in the air that it is considering assembling of its hybrid models in India as it is assuming that the demand for such vehicles may rise in India in upcoming time.

As a TMC spokesperson from Tokyo recently said while addressing media that they have already launched Prius in Indian market and they are constantly studying Indian market so that they can decide the right timing to introduce new hybrid models in India. Out of the 18 models that their company is planning to launch 13 models will be new models while 5 will be revised Toyota latest models.

He also added that the assembling of any of these models in their two plants in India totally depends on upcoming market dynamics, they will study it and take decision in accordance with that. However he declined to speak anything of the time frame under which new Toyota hybrid models will be assembled in India. At present, Toyota is selling only one model Prius in India that is imported as a complete vehicle. During the last FY, the sales of this model increased by 70 percent with the sales of 12 units of this model which was 5 units higher than the number of u nits sold in previous FY.
