Celerio diesel would get its power from Suzuki’s prime initiative of brand-developed diesel dynamo that is speculated to be a 0.8-L twin-cylinder box, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. It has been quoted the Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, that this engine would produce an output of around 30 km/L.

Maruti would be crafting 100,000 units of this diesel dynamo in the initial year before stepping a foot forward for expanding the productivity or even housing it on to other small passenger cars. Although it remains a fact about the Tata Ace rival LVC, would be using the same engine.

Same as the petrol variant, the diesel Celerio would come in versions of LDi, VDi and ZDi, there is now news of an AMT on offer, at least not in the initial journey of the new car. Once on roads, the car would be competing with the currently running Hyundai Grand i10 and Chevrolet Beat diesel engine. Coming along with a price tag of INR 4.6-5.7 lakhs, should be out by the next month as reported.
