Mr. Jo Johnson, the science minister of London, who visited our country, has endorsed the plan of the Delhi government to restrict traffic flow. The system of limiting traffic flow is an extremely common aspect throughout the globe, so it is quite certain that India is not asking for something extremely strange to do, while this aspect is creating ripples in the market. The Delhi government is planning to roll out this strategy in order to take a step towards eradicating the problem of the dangerous pollution levels that are ruining the living conditions in the capital, while people are finding is strange, ruthless and impossible, while the govt. is not with any other option to take control of the situation. Mr. Johnson spoke about a different concept that is followed in order to reduce the congestion in order to ration the traffic flow.

Even-Odd plan

This concept was introduced back in the year 2003;while central London has a clear and evident 'congestion charge zone' while most vehicles would have to pay a huge 11.50 pounds congestion tax per day, they enter that particular zone. The country carries a total population of more than eight million; London managed to collect 2.6 billion pounds as congestion charge during its first decade. Of this, nearly one billion pounds that were invested in making the bus infrastructure better in London. The citizens are made to pay the 'congestion charge' starting from the 7 am to 6 pm during the weekdays. We assume this to be a better substitute to control traffic and at the same time limit the air pollution if compared to the earlier suggested 'odd and even' number system that the capital is attempting to roll out from the 1ts of January 2015.

The concept followed in London enforces a charge for the ones who have to use their vehicle on the days they are not configured for. This would definitely increase the funds, hereby making the govt. spend more on theimprovement of the capital’s transport infra-structure. While being asked to Comment upon the weather conditions in the capital city, Mr. Johnson said that is an extremely difficult season, making the air quality all the more bad, in terms of the smog and of course the pollution levels adds on, making it worse. As per him the UK government is also eager to put in its effortand help our country in making the air we all breathe healthier and cleaner. The UK meteorological office is equipped with world class proficiency in air quality intensive careand there is no problem in shifting some of the aid and expertise here in India, until we fight out this danger marked situation.
