Honda and Toyota to roll out fuel-cell cars in 2015

Toyota Motor Corp and Honda Motor Co Ltd plan to launch fuel cell vehicles in the consumer market in 2015, both aims to produce around 1000 ecofriendly cars per year. These cars will be the zero emission vehicles which cover longer distance than electric cars. It would cost below the 10 million yen.

The automakers are now offering fuel cell cars on lease, with users focusing on municipalities and businesses. Honda is developing sedan which would be able to travel almost 500 KM within a single charge which is twice to the range of an electric vehicle, Honda plans to roll out sedan to the market by early November 2015,

Honda plans to manufacture 5000 units over five years, selling them in Japan, Europe and unites states.

Toyota, the global leader in hybrid vehicles eyeing to introduce a sedan in Japan, United States and Europe in 2020.Reportedly the automakers eyeing to take annual output to tens of thousands of units.

Carlos Ghosn, the CEO of rival Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co, said in November carmakers would face obstacles in their plans to launch fuel-cell car sales over the next few years.
