Honda Amaze Compact Sedan

New Honda Amaze car 2013 sales begin with a high thrust during the first month of FY 2013-14.

The latest offering from the Japanese auto major is bringing all cookies in Honda’s bag. The car since its launch has been selling high volumes along with several advance bookings. The Honda Amaze sales increased in April 2013 to more than 4, 500 units. The new Honda Amaze features diesel power train that is one of the first submissions in the diesel segment from Honda. But apart from this, one of the biggest boosters has been the Honda Amaze price that starts from Rs.4.99 lakhs only. The whole entry level sedan segment has been revolutionized with this cost effective pricing strategy of Honda motors.

Thousands of anticipating buyers are lining up daily for advance bookings of this sedan that has crossed the mark of 22000 by end of the month. Out of these bookings, Honda has managed to trade only 4852 units during the month. This delivery has been possible only because the company had manufactures a few advance models of the car before its launch. The fresh slot of this car is yet to reach the markets. The car will be assembled at the Greater Noida situated plant of Honda. At present the waiting period of Honda Amaze is 2 months but the period is being expected to increase if the bookings keep on increasing on the same pace.

Although the sales figures for the month of April equal to just 1/3 of Maruti Swift Dzire but the car is being considered as the major competitor of the Maruti best seller. Honda Amaze sales are expected to take a higher toll as soon as the market recovers from slowdown. While Amaze has been a star seller for Honda its other two priorities Brio and City sedan have failed to meet their regular sales target.  Honda has built capacity to rollout in total 10, 000 units of its vehicles on a monthly basis, while for the month of April 2013 the sales figures stuck to 7075 units. The individual sales figures for City and Brio stood at 1917 and 1628 units respectively.

These figures represent a considerable decrease in sales figures as City on a regular basis managed to trade over 3000 units on an average for the first quarter of 2013. Brio on the other hand has managed to sell over 3000 units per month in the same period. As compared to these figures the April sales figures of both these cars is pretty disappointing. It can’t be said with surety at the moment that whether this has been a result of the changed priorities of buyers from Brio and City to Amaze or has been a side effect of economic slowdown.
