As it had been out and about in the news for Ford Motor Co. to be asking for a 10-speed gear box back in 2013, according to a latest report that is rolled out is that the company is all set to pick up an 11-speed gear box. Although the 10-speed gear box is being manufactured an association of Ford Motors and General Motors, but the 11-speed gear box would be a sole effort from the American Car maker.

As per the sources, the company has filed a patent filing for a vehicle gearbox with 11-speeds in October 2013. To support their though, Ford has presented a diagram that seems to be simple on the paper, but don’t know how easy would it be to implement it on the machine. The application displays a design that syncs planetary gear-sets, without the dual-clutch configuration; therefore it will most likely react as a conventional, torque-converter automatic.

Although it has not been observed for the car makers to file such an extra ordinary approach towards the gear arrangements, seems like of course the brand is thinking about its implementation in the near future, but as we have not seen the sane before, it still looks like a dreamy strategy more than a reality.  While, Stefan Sommer, CEO of ZF, a major industry transmission supplier, back in November, had said that, ‘a 9-speed auto 'box represents the "natural limit" judging by the benefits brought by an extra gear in comparison to the added complexity and weight.
