New Bentley Flying Spur to Make China Debut in 2013 Shanghai Auto Show

The new Bentley Continental Flying Spur comes with revised performance and standards.

The new Continental Flying Spur from Bentley will receive its Asian debut at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show in the upcoming week. The maker claims that this new car is much faster, better, and efficient than ever. The company also says that they have also solved the refinement problem that was hindering the global expansion of the car.

The new Flying Spur benefits from a twin turbo 6.0 liter W12 power mill that smokes out power worth 618 PS for 6000 RPM and a torque worth 785 Nm at 2000 RPM. The engine couple with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission gearbox that shifts within 200 milliseconds. The car maintains its top speed at 200 mph, however, its CO2 emissions have reduced to 343 g/kg and 19.2mpg. The car will go on sale from the upcoming summers.

The LED lights that Bentley has bestowed to this car, are as per the company the boldest and most aggressive lights they have ever given to any model. The style factor of the car has been improvised on both exterior as well as interior front. The exteriors have been given a humble but robust look.

The weight of the car has also been reduced by 50kg by use of plenty of light weight building materials. Apart from being lighter, the car is also stronger than the previous models by almost 4 percent. The car has also been provided better insulation against noise, harshness, and insulation. There have been modest use of noise reducing stuff in the car like acoustic glass, acoustic panels, latest door seals, and advanced exhaust mufflers. All these in total keep the car inners away from road and wind disturbances.

The ride comfort has been taken to a new level with the help of 19 inch tyres that bear higher sidewalls. The softer suspension springs and anti-roll bars provide improved ride comfort and single wheel impact absorption. Although on harder front, the stiffness of the spring has been increased that reduces pitch, roll, and heave. Drivers have been given an option of four suspension settings.
As Bentley’s head of engineers like to tell that they have focused the passengers’ comfort mainly and have taken complete care to keep the cabin aloof of external environment disturbances and fluctuations. The rear seats of the car can be adjusted in fourteen different directions and they get heated and cooled as per requirement. The car is available in both four seat as well as five seat seating arrangement.

There is also option for improvement of in-car technology. Front seat accommodators will be facing an 8 inch touchscreen which will allow them to control Bluetooth, car entertainment system, and sat-nav system. For the rear seat accommodators remote controls have been provided. Customers may also go for optional connectivity units that gives them access to  car’s wi-fi system that they may use by tapping the 10 inches screen that have been provided on the rear part of front seats.
